Tub Clean Function

Importance of Tub Cleaning

Why Regular Tub Cleaning is Essential:

  • Prevents mold and mildew buildup
  • Eliminates unpleasant odors
  • Maintains washing performance
  • Extends machine lifespan
  • Ensures hygienic cleaning of clothes

Benefits of Using Tub Clean Function

  1. Deep Cleaning: The Tub Clean function uses high-temperature water to dissolve and remove detergent residue, dirt, and bacteria.
  2. Automatic Process: The machine automatically adjusts water temperature and drum rotation for optimal cleaning.
  3. Time Saving: No manual scrubbing required - the machine does all the work.
  4. Eco-Friendly: Uses less water and energy compared to manual cleaning methods.
  5. Preventive Maintenance: Regular use prevents costly repairs and maintains warranty coverage.
Warning: Never use abrasive cleaners or bleach during tub cleaning as they can damage the drum and internal components.

Cleaning Frequency

Regular Maintenance Every 30 washes or once a month
Heavy Usage Every 20 washes or every 2 weeks
Hard Water Areas Every 15 washes or weekly
Light Usage Every 40 washes or every 6 weeks
After Illness Immediately after washing contaminated laundry
Seasonal Cleaning Before and after periods of non-use

Signs Your Tub Needs Cleaning

  • Musty Odor: Unpleasant smell from the drum
  • Visible Residue: White or gray film on drum surface
  • Poor Cleaning: Clothes not getting clean despite normal cycles
  • Mold Spots: Black spots around door seal or drum
  • Lingering Smells: Clothes retain odors after washing

For optimal performance, run the Tub Clean cycle as soon as you notice any of these signs.

Cleaning Procedure

Preparation Steps

Ensure the washing machine is empty. Remove any items from the drum, including small items that may be stuck in the door seal. Wipe the door seal and glass with a damp cloth.

Cleaning Agent Selection

Use only LG-approved tub cleaning agents or a mixture of vinegar and baking soda. Never use chlorine bleach as it can damage the stainless steel drum and rubber components.

Dispenser Usage

Pour the cleaning agent directly into the drum, not into the detergent dispenser. This ensures the cleaning solution circulates properly throughout the entire tub.

Step-by-Step Tub Cleaning Process

Step 1: Preparation

Ensure machine is empty and clean around door seal. Check for foreign objects in drum.

Step 2: Add Cleaner

Add recommended amount of tub cleaner directly into the drum. Close door securely.

Step 3: Select Program

Press Tub Clean button on control panel. Machine will display estimated time (approx. 60-90 minutes).

Step 4: Start Cycle

Press Start/Pause button. Machine will begin heating water and cleaning process automatically.

Step 5: Completion

After cycle completes, leave door open to air dry. Wipe any remaining moisture from door seal.

Step 6: Maintenance

Run a quick rinse cycle if needed. Record cleaning date for maintenance tracking.
