Emergency Drainage Procedure
When to Use Manual Drain:
- Power outage during wash cycle
- Drain pump failure
- Drain hose blockage
- Machine won't drain automatically
- Moving or relocating the washer
Step-by-Step Manual Drainage
- Power Off: Turn off and unplug the washing machine from electrical outlet for safety.
- Locate Drain Hose: Find the drain hose at the back of the machine. It's usually gray and connected to the pump.
- Prepare Drain Area: Place a shallow pan or bucket under the drain hose connection point to catch water.
- Access Drain Filter: On most LG top load models, locate the drain filter cover at the front bottom of the machine.
- Open Drain Cap: Twist the drain cap counterclockwise to open. Water will start flowing out immediately.
- Drain Water: Allow all water to drain completely into your container. This may take several minutes.
- Clean Filter: Remove any debris or objects from the filter area before closing.
- Close Drain: Securely twist the drain cap back clockwise until tight.
- Clean Up: Wipe any spilled water and ensure area is dry before restoring power.
